Pizza is all about the toppings, and one topping in particular has become popular as of late, and with good reason. Pizza parlors all over are drizzling hot honey over their pizzas, and it’s absolutely delicious. If you want to try your hand at making it yourself, here’s an easy recipe to follow!
Tips & Tricks
Hot honey can be made with all sorts of ingredients, from red pepper chili flakes to a little bit of hot sauce. Just don’t forget to warm the mixture so that it sticks together nicely.
Flatbreads come in various sizes, so you can use the one you like best. Use your judgment to change the toppings and the time that it is spent in the oven and make sure you don’t overload the flatbread.
How to Make It
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tsp hot sauce
- 1/2 tsp chili flakes
- 2 garlic flatbreads
- 1/2 cup of pizza sauce
- 2 cups Mozzarella, or as needed
- 12 slices pepperoni
- sliced black olives & fresh jalapeños
Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 220°C/430°F. Make sure that the oven tray remains in place so it gets nice and hot. This helps the pizza base to crisp up.
2. Mix the honey, hot sauce, and chili flakes and put it in the microwave for 10-20 seconds. Stir and leave to cool. You can also do this on the stove, bringing the ingredients to a simmer. Remove it and leave it to cool. You can adjust the spiciness using more chili flakes and hot sauce to your liking.
3. Cover the pizzas with some store-bought pizza sauce and top with some mozzarella, pepperoni, jalapeños, and olives. Add a few more pieces of mozzarella on top of the pepperoni to prevent it from curling.
4. Take the tray out of the oven, place the pizzas on it, and bake them in the oven for approximately 8-10 minutes, or until it has turned a light golden brown color. Drizzle on the hot honey, then tuck in and enjoy!
